About Cotswold Mediation

Cotswold Mediation was established by Nichola Gough, a Family Lawyer with over 20 years experience.  Nicky offers a highly professional, yet friendly approach to Family Law and Mediation recognising that family disputes can be extremely stressful.  Nicky is an accredited child consultant, if parents wish to consider this as part of the mediation process. After graduating from Cambridge University Nicky practised law with a national law firm Pinsent Masons before spending over 7 years in Uganda as part of the management team for Mengo Hospital in Kampala, whilst also working with local Lawyers and Non-Government Agencies on a variety of aid projects.

On returning to the UK Nicky joined Christian Aid in the legal capacity, studied for a Masters Degree in Law and Development at Warwick University followed by a Masters Degree in Development Management from the Open University.

In 2008 Nicky went to Palestine as an International Peace Volunteer and worked with organisations both in Israel and Palestine engaged in conflict of resolution.  As part of her work there she produced a research paper on organisations working in conflict situations.

Nicky was formally a member of the Law Societies Children Panel, is a member of Resolution the National Association for Family Lawyers and is a trained Collaborative Lawyer as well as a Mediator being a founder member of the North Oxfordshire Collaborative Group.

Aside from being a Solicitor and Mediator Nicky is a former Trustee of a Housing Charity in Banbury, a Trustee for the Sunshine Centre in Banbury and the Therapy Centre in Banbury and also for the Cyclist Defence Fund.  She is a voluntary representative for TraidCraft a member of the Howard League for Penal Form and of Amnesty International.

As a keen cyclist, Nicky averages over 200 miles a week.  She has five children of her own which has given her plenty experiences of the realities of family life.
